The
holy table, reredos, credence table, and oak panelling at St
Devenick's were made in Aberdeen, just after the First World War
to commemorate men who had given their lives in the War. Carved
by David K Graham to a design by a Mr Gibbon, it replaced the original
items - which were given to All Saints' Mission at Hilton in Aberdeen.
The window above came some years later to complete the memorial.
Depicted in the window are, to the left, the Virgin Mary and Mary
Magdalene, to the right, St John the Evangelist and St Longinus -
the Roman Centurion - with a spear.
The oak work cost just £600 in 1920 & the window £360
in 1928. The whole church cost £3,386 1s 5d when it was built
in 1902. |
